SIGS is pleased to welcome our speaker, Dr. Linda Howe-Ram, Director of CSUS Guardian Scholars Program (GSP) for Foster Youth.  The program serves students who have experienced the foster care system, were eligible for the McKinney Vento Act students in high school, were wards of the court and/or unaccompanied minors.  GSP offers wrap-around services to support students’ journey at Sac State.  Being part of the program means more than just a resource; students are part of a family community.

• In 2024, CSUS celebrated the opening of a new and expanded center for the Guardian Scholars Program.
• The program formed a partnership with CSUS Admissions Office to allow all former foster youth guaranteed admission, if they meet the Admission requirements and eligibility criteria for being a foster youth.
• The CSUS Guardian Scholars for Foster Youth is the third largest program in the state.
• The program has celebrated the successful graduation of over 200 Foster Youth in the past 10 years.
