Tyra McFall
Tyra grew up in the Foster Care system under difficult conditions. She was in constantly changing foster placements, receiving homes and group homes. At times she had no placement at all. In spite of these challenges Tyra was always an excellent student, a natural leader and determined to succeed. She was able to persevere and graduate early.
Since starting college she has given birth to three children ages 2,1 and a newborn. As a single mom with no support, Tyra is determined to be the best mom possible and an example for her children of resilience and positivity. She is pursuing a degree in Social Work so she can make a difference in in the lives of other foster kids. Once she completes her bachelors in Social Work she will continue on for a Masters Degree.
Tyra has endured traumas as a young woman but has maintained her open and loving outlook toward those around her. Best wishes to Tyra now and in the future.

Stephanie Swindle
Stephanie is a survivor in the truest sense. She is the mother of a three year old son who was eight months old when she was able to escape an abusive and toxic relationship where many things were striped from her including her identity. She was left homeless and without a car. She and her son spent time in and out of homeless shelters and transitional housing but she was determined to create a stable situation.
Stephanie understands that education is the path to her dreams. She has no support but is resolute in her quest for a Bachelors degree in Environmental Sciences. She is genuinely concerned about the future of the planet for all those who come after her. She is skilled at managing her time, coursework, study sessions and her child’s schedule while juggling all the curveballs in life..
Stephanie has a passion for making a difference in environmental sustainability, addressing environmental challenges and finding practical solutions for a healthier planet.
She maintains steady progress toward her goal. She has an AA in Natural Resources from Community College and is continuing her education in Environmental Science at Sacramento State University.
Focus and determination will guide her as she achieves her goal in her career and as a role model for her son. The earth will be a better place because of Stephanie’s contributions.
